Obituary

William R. "Bill" Ferguson, 69, of Wilmington, IL. passed away on Monday. July 14, 2014 at Silver Cross Hospital. He was born on September 14, 1944 in Joliet, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Kathie Ferguson; two children: Mark (Paula) Ferguson of Joliet, and Joe (girlfriend Eileen O'Donnell) Ferguson of Joliet; a granddaughter Madalyn Ferguson ; his mother Stephanie Ferguson; two sisters Patti Chizmark and Debbie (Mike) Decman; sister in law Penny McCauley; brother in law Bill (Lois) Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, William James Ferguson; and mother and father- in-law William and Helen Smith.

Bill led a very full and rewarding life. He was a devoted father and a loving husband. He had many interests, but always enjoyed working. He needed to feel that he accomplished something every day. He enjoyed his pontoon boat on the Kankakee River and especially the Fourth of July boat parade. Every year in the month of May he enjoyed the whole family going to Lake Barkley in Kentucky for a fishing trip. He snowmobiled for many years in the winter and enjoyed his vegetable garden in the summer. He was a Chicago White Sox fan but followed the Cubs too so he could joke with his son,Joe, who is a Cubs fan. He and his son, Mark, were avid Bears fans and never missed watching a game. Spending the winter months in Florida and golfing with a great group of guys was a great source of pleasure to him. In the last two years, his only granddaughter, Madalyn, quickly became the light of his life. He felt very blessed to have Paula (nee Thygesen) for a wonderful daughter in law, and Joe's girlfriend, Eileen O'Donnell in his family. Bill was retired from Amoco Chemical with over 35 years of employment.
