William F. McCarthy, age 42, formerly of Wilmington and Coal City, IL passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026 in Springfield due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

He was born on July 18, 1984 in Oklahoma to John and Samantha (nee Cook) McCarthy. He attended Wilmington schools and later became an iron worker. Wil married Danielle C. Koch on January 6, 2024 in Joliet and together they were raising their three children.

A lover of adventure, Wil was happiest when riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Traveling, usually local to where he lived, was a passion of his. He enjoyed taking his family to theme parks and treasured the thrill of the rides shared with them, especially the roller coasters. He had so much energy and enthusiasm for life. Most of all, Wil was a caring father to his children.

He is survived by his wife, Danielle McCarthy; his children, William Jr. and Myla McCarthy and Jayden Arozamena; his mother, Samantha Risinger; his father, John McCarthy; his siblings, David Risinger and Savannah Risinger; his mother-in-law, Loretta Cowie and his nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, Wesley Risinger.

A Memorial Visitation will be on Sunday, September 27, 2026 from 1:00 pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 3:00 pm at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL 60416. Deacon William Dunn will officiate.
