Obituary
William L. "Billy" Bumgardner, 35 of Chicago, formerly of Carbon Hill, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at his residence.
He was born August 22, 1981 in Joliet, IL. a son of Charles Bumgardner and Phyllis (Farmer) Poole. He attended Coal City Schools, graduating in 2000. Billy was a musician, playing drums for the bands Lord Mantis, of which he was an original member and Indian in the Chicago area. Lord Mantis released three albums as well as two EP's. Indian disbanded last year after releasing five albums and one EP. He was a custom drum fabricator, creating drums for many people around the world. A devoted fan of the Chicago Black Hawks, he made the drum which is carried by the Black Hawks Mascot. He enjoyed being an uncle to his nieces and nephews. They were his world. He loved to travel and explore, most recently making a trip to California for a Mother's Day celebration with his girlfriend Jennifer, his mother and Jennifer's mother. He also enjoyed yoga.
He is survived by his father and step-mother Charles and Kathleen Bumgardner of Carbon Hill; his mother and step-father Phyllis and Steve Poole of Paducah, KY. ; his brothers John Olson of Coal City and Adam (Andrea) Poole, LeCenter, KY.; his sister Jamie (Jason) Haas of Dayton, OH.; his nieces and nephews Samantha Rae Olson, Daniel Olson, Kiala Haas, Alexandra Haas, Holly Poole and Casey Poole; and his loving girlfriend whom he adored, Jennifer Ko of Chicago. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother in infancy, Michael Shane Bumgardner.
Memorials may be directed to Suicide Prevention and Mental Heath Awareness.
Cremation Rites will be accorded.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel (on the corner of Spring Road and Ferrari Drive) with Rev. Bradley Shumaker officiating. Memorial visitation will be the same day from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. also at Ferrari Funeral Services.
