Walter W. "Wally" Mahaffay, age 80 of Diamond, IL passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care in Joliet.

He was born on May 10, 1945 in Chicago, IL to Bud and Barb Mahaffay. Wally married Geraldine Kubiak. They were married for 25 years until her passing in 2002. Wally worked for the Illinois Tollway as a painter for 32 years. He enjoyed traveling, especially on cruises and to Las Vegas. He was a collector of Lionel Trains.

He is survived by his two sons, Walt (Lynne) Mahaffay and Frank ( fiancée Rachael Rinchiuso) Mahaffay; his grandchildren, Kayla (Cody) Musson, Kellee (Paul) Phillips and Jake Mahaffay; his great-grandchildren, Ainslee, Nash and Ada; two brothers, David (Irene) Mahaffay and Frank Mahaffay and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine; his parents; his brother, Brian Mahaffay and his sister Mona Mahaffay.

Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Justice.
