Valynda Planeta, 38, of Mazon, IL. passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Foster G. McGaw Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL. after a long battle with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer.
She was born November 5, 1979 in Atlanta, Georgia to David Pane and Kristine (Mezger) Pane. She graduated from Coal City High School class of 1997 and then earned her physical therapy degree from Kankakee Community College, working at Athletico Physical Therapy. Valynda married her high school sweetheart, Chad Planeta, in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands in 2000. Together they have raised their 4 children in their home in Mazon. She was a devoted mother and was very involved with all her kids' field trips, sports and activities. She also enjoyed taking them on mission trips with the Coal City United Methodist Church of which she was a member.
Valynda made friends wherever she went. She delighted in talking with people and had an infectious smile that drew people to her. She enjoyed running. She had a passion for travel and loved seeing the world, especially if there was a beach to sit on. She was the life of the party.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Chad; their three daughters Magen, Nyah and Adyson and son Austin; her mother Kristine Pane of Plainfield, IL., her sister Alyssa (Eddie) Wendler of Coal City; her brother Steve (Jessica) Pane of Peotone, IL.; her nephews and nieces: Hunter, Tyler, Ethan, Eli, Kayden, Evan, Jaxson, Mason, Cara and Camryn; her mother and father in law Janet and Gary Planeta and her brother and sister in law Brock and Nikki Planeta, all of Coal City.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for Valynda's children's educations.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel (corner of Spring Road and Ferrari Drive) in Coal City,
A private family funeral service will be held at another time with Pastor Bradley Schumaker officiating.
As were Valynda's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the service.
