Susan L. Kenney, age 69 of Coal City,IL passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care in Joliet.

She was born on July 3, 1956 in Morris, IL to Bernard and Marjorie (nee Smith) Roth. She worked at her family’s business, Roth Bakery, while growing up and graduated from Morris Community High School. Susan married Jerry T. “Squirrel” Kenney on December 10, 1976 in Joliet. Together they raised two children. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jerry Kenney; her two children, Robin Kenney and Jeremy (Jennifer) Kenney, both of Coal City; her four grandchildren, Emma, Ava, Aidan and A.J. Kenney; her sister, Diane (Lee) Jacobson of Loveland, CO. and her two brothers, Skip Roth and Jay (Cheryl) Roth, both of Morris.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Marjorie Roth, brothers Roger Roth and Jack Roth, and a sister, Karen Trenter.

As were Susan’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service will be held at a later date.
