Shirley M. Jessee, of Morris, IL passed away on her 88th birthday which was Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

She was born on February 6, 1936 in Castlewood, VA to Vernard and Audrey (nee Jessee) Thompson. She was raised in the Baptist faith. She married William "Buddy" Jessee on February 26, 1953 in Lebanon, VA. They had been married 71 years this month. She, her husband and family moved to Joliet, IL in 1960 and made it their home, moving to Morris, IL to their retirement home in 1985.

Shirley was employed at St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet for 10 years and at Brieser Construction Company of Wilmington for 10 years before retiring. She moved her mother from Virginia into her home in 1999 and was her caregiver until the time of her death on December 26, 2013, all of which were really good times with family. Shirley's favorite past time was spending time with her family. She loved having them over for dinners, working puzzles, playing on her computer, iPad and reading. She will truly be missed.

She is survived by her children, Rusty (Mary-Beth) Jessee of Crest Hill; Janet (the late Don) Thayer of Channahon and Tammy (Jim) Seeley of Diamond; her six grandchildren, Christina (Harold) Espaillat, Danielle (Steve) Houston, Lauren Thayer, William J. Jessee and Cory and Carly Seeley. Also surviving are her four great-grandchildren, Ethan and Audrey Espaillat and Emma and Ellie Houston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernard Thompson and Audrey Thompson Jessee; her step-father, Elihu Jessee; and her son-in-law, Donald Thayer.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL 60416. Funeral Service and burial will be private.
