Shirley A. Clarke, age 74, of Coal City, IL. passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the Morris Hospital.

She was born on December 21, 1946 in Portland, OR to Daniel and Dorothy (nee Reimer) Hollowell. She graduated from Downers Grove South Class of 1965. She married James R. Clarke in Wheaton, IL. on July 31, 1982. Shirley was a homemaker and devoted herself to her family.

Shirley's home sat on a large lot and she enjoyed mowing her grass. It was her time to think, meditate and pray. She was an active member of the Living Church of God. She was an avid reader. She loved talking with people and was a great confidant. She was a natural counselor and people trusted with her with their deepest feelings because they knew she was very dependable. Most of all, Shirley enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, James; her sons, Adam (Kristen) Clarke of Rockton, IL. and Chris Clarke of Coal City. Also surviving are her six grandchildren, Aidan, Abby, A.J., Morgan, Lexi and Lannie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Dorothy Hollowell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Shirley's name may be directed to the American Heart Association.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL. 60416. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7:00 pm, also at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Irv Woelfle officiating. Cremation Rites will be accorded following the funeral service.
