Sharon L. Watson, age 82, of Coal City, IL passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at U Chicago Medicine/Advent Health in Chicago. .

She was born on July 25, 1944 in Sandwich, Illinois to Verlie Robinson. She graduated from Earlville High School. Sharon married Dale J. Watson on June 16, 1962 at the Coal City United Methodist Church. Together they raised their three children in the Coal City area. Through the years, Sharon worked at Belletini’s Grocery Store, as a school bus driver and as a teacher’s aide. She was a devoted member of the Coal City United Methodist Church and spent many years with the Sunshine Circle and organizing and working funeral dinners. Sharon enjoyed her years of traveling with friends.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dale Watson; her daughters, Lori (Tom) McKinney and Julie Watson; her son, Keith (Anne) Watson; her fivegrandchildren, Rachael (Justin Rodriguez) McKinney, Ranell (Matt) Gigler, Brittany Freelon and Joe and Ben Watson; her three great-grandchildren, Elliana Allen and Ty and Brinley Gigler; her sister, Judy (Denny) Foote; her brothers, Dale (Joann) Robinson and Gary (Doris) Robinson; and her sister-in-law, Faye (Harold) Holsinger.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Verlie Robinson and her sister, Sylvia Doyons.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL 60416.

Funeral Service will be on Monday, October 5, 2026 at the Coal City United Methodist Church, 6801 East McArdle Road, Coal City, IL 60416 where Sharon will lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am. Pastor Bradley Watkins will officiate.

Pallbearers will be: Joe Watson, Ben Watson (Honorary), Ty Gigler, Ellian Allen, Brinley Gigler, Matt Gigler and Tom McKinney.

Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service.

Memorials may be made to the Coal City United Methodist Church Building Fund.
