Sarah L. Vitko, 91 of rural Braceville, passed away on Friday October 16, 2015 at Park Point Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Morris. She was born February 8, 1924 in Coal City to the late Jasper and Cecelia (Gervase) Vitale. She married Edward Vitko Sr. on December 27th, 1941 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Coal City.

Sarah enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and cooking. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks. She was employed in her early years at Grinchucks Pants Factory in Braidwood. She worked on the family farm with her husband, Ed, for many years.

She is survived by her children Diana (James) Biros of Morris and Edward (Barbara) Vitko Jr. of Gardner; her grandchildren Kristi (Tim) Meece of Burr Ridge, Kori(Dave) Mayberry of Morris, John Biros of Morris, Jennifer (Jeremy) Kenney of Coal City, Stefanie (Lonnie) Henline of Coal City and Mike( Lauren) Vitko of Gardner; 21 great-grandchildren Sarah, Lynnsey, Johnathan and James Meece; Madison, Mitchell, and Moriah Mayberry;Kayli, Alexa, Johnny and Nicolette Biros; Emma, Ava, Aidan and AJ Kenney, Makenzie, Makayla and Connor Henline and Owen, Grace and Cecelia Vitko. Also surviving is her sister Virginia Hill of Coal City and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Edward Vitko Sr. and sisters Catherine Wills and Bernice Lowery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20 at 11:00 a.m at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel (corner of Spring Road and Ferrari Drive) in Coal City. Father Robert Noesen will officiate with interment at Braceville Gardner Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:00am to the time of the service at 11:00 am at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be John Biros, Tim Meece, Jeremy Kenny, Lonnie Henline, Mike Vitko and Carl Pohl.
