Sandra L. Ruhl, 64, of Coal City passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 22, 2016 with her family at her side.
Sandy was born February 12, 1952 in Blue Island, IL. to Richard and Nellie (VanDuersen) Evensen. She grew up and attended school in Riverdale, IL. She married Michael E. Ruhl on January 31, 1970 in Chicago. She worked for Smurfit Stone in Morris for 18 years and then at Ryder Warehouse also in Morris. Sandy enjoyed camping and spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. She also loved traveling.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Michael; three daughters: Jennifer Phillips of Aurora, Juliana Chambers of Joliet and Jessica (Richard) Stancil of North Carolina; grandchildren: Michael Ruhl, Jake Chambers, Alaynah Rodgers, Seth Chambers, Promise Chambers, Ryan Chambers, Hannah Phillips, Ashlynn and Aubrey Stancil, a granddaughter on the way and step-grandchild Brooks Stancil; her sister Terry (Chris) Odea of Harvard, IL., nephew Doug (Jennifer) Tucker, niece Shawn (Tony) Iszo and great niece Taylor Tucker. Also surviving is step brother Craig Gentzle.
She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Nellie Evensen, step-mother Lauranne Evensen, sister and brother-in-law Kimberly and Odee Tucker and step brother Gary Gentzle.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Funeral service will be held at Ferrari Funeral Chapel (corner of Spring Road and Ferrari Drive) on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will also be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m. at Ferrari Funeral Services.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.
