Russell J. Girot 88 of Diamond, passed away on Saturday January 23, 2010 with his family by his side at his home which he built, and was very proud of. He was born on that same farm in diamond on February 3, 1921 to the late Gabe and Vittoria Girot.

He was a 40 + year member of the brick layers union, an avid Chicago sports fan, and master gardener. He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in their many sporting events.

He is survived by three children Margaret Girot , Victoria Girot, and Anthony (Bonnie) Girot, six grandchildren Paul and Andrew Sledd, Michael, Matthew, and Kathryn Girot, and David Campbell, a brother Charles Girot, brother in law Floyd Garrett, a sister in law Jean (Arthur) McPartlin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 53 years Evelyn Girot, a son Ralph Girot, a brother Raymond (Kathryn) Girot, twin brother Ralph Girot ( in WW II) a sister Irene (Andrew) Stewart, sister in laws Mona Girot and Nina Garrett, mother and father in law Floyd and Helen Garrett.

Funeral services will be held at The Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary Church on Tuesday January 26, 2010 with a 10:00 am mass of christen burial. Father Mark Fraccaro will officiate with interment in Braceville Gardner Cemetery in Braceville. The Family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 am until the time of Funeral Mass on Tuesday .
