Ronald D. Wills, age 77, of Mazon, IL passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at his home on his farm.

He was born on April 15, 1947 in Joliet, IL to Roy and Catherine (nee Vitale) Wills. He graduated from Coal City High School class of 1965 and still had breakfast one day a month with his classmates. He was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.  Ron served his country honorably in the United States Air Force serving in Vietnam. He married Jane L. Hintze on May 6, 1972 at the Coal City United Methodist Church.

Ron worked as a machinist at Caterpillar of Joliet, retiring after over 30 years. In his retirement, he worked at Ace Hardware in Diamond for 19 years. Farming was Ron's passion and he farmed his whole life in Mazon. He was a long time volunteer with Grundy County 4-H and served for a number of years as president of the Fair Board.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane Wills; his daughters, Kim (Brad) Mathis of Oswego and Janet (fiancé Michael Enerson) Wills of Gardner; two grandchildren, Dean and Emma Mathis; his sister, Donna (Larry) Meyer and his brother, Dennis (Karen) Wills, both of Mazon; his sister-in-law, Jean (the late David) Wills of Mazon and his brother-in-law, Paul (Cindy) Hintze of Coal City. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Catherine Wills and his brother, Keith Wills.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Services or Grundy County 4-H.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL 60416.  with Rev. Joshua Miller officiating.  Inurnment with full military honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
