Obituary

Raymond Wayne Sinkular, age 85 of Carbon Hill, IL passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet.

He was born on August 10th, 1938 in Braidwood, IL to Frank and Kathryne (nee Menietti) Sinkular. Ray grew up the youngest in his large family of nine children who gave him the nickname "Raymi". He graduated from Reed-Custer High School. Ray married Mary Jane Rasor on November 27th, 1982 in Wilmington. Together they made their home in Carbon Hill and enjoyed a long and devoted marriage. A lifelong mechanic, Ray retired from Illinois Auto Central in Chicago after over 30 years.

Ray was a lover of the great outdoors including hunting, fishing and deer camp. Most of all, he was a loving grandfather and spent much time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including them in his enjoyment of outdoor recreation by taking them to the Area Club to fish and play on the playground equipment.  He was a sports fan who was entertained watching football, baseball and basketball. Ray also cherished a special friendship with his lifelong friend, Rich Layman, sharing fishing trips and breakfasts together once a week.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Jane; his children, Kimberly (William) Kiser of Coal City, Julie (Kevin) Hibler of Myakka City, FL and Raymond (Tracy) Sinkular of S. Wilmington; three grandchildren, Michelle (Eric) Hall of Custer Park, Kristin (Tom) Logan of Bonaire, GA and Katie (Kyle) Basham of S.Wilmington; five great-grandchildren, Madalynn Ziesmer, Makayla Hall, Gavin and Alyssa Logan and Tucker Basham; his sister, Rita (Sinkular) Marquardt and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Kathryne Sinkular; his grandson, Jonathan Sinkular; his siblings, Francis (Anna Mae) Sinkular, Lorraine (Ray) Rink, Katherine (Bud) Hnetkovsky, James (Bev) Sinkular, Donald (Emma) Sinkular, Eleanor (Benny) McQuerry, Edward Sinkular; his brother- in- law, Robert F. Marquardt Sr.; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frank W. and Marjore (nee Brassard) Rasor; brothers- in-law, Donald Rasor and Robert Rasor and a sister-in-law, Leah Wiborg.

Visitation will from 1:00 pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 4:00 pm on Monday, October 23, 2023 at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL 60416. Deacon William Dunn will officiate.

Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service.
