Peter J. Giaudrone Jr., 89 years, of Coal City, IL, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Arc of Dwight.
He was born on December 13, 1936 in Morris, IL to Peter J. and Marie I. (nee Wendell) Giaudrone. He was raised in old Eileen, graduating from Coal City High School class of 1954. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era from 1960 to 1966. Pete married Donna Jean Zeller on February 13, 1960. Together they raised two children.
Pete worked as a Union Carpenter with Local #174, retiring after 39 years. An active part of his community, Pete was a member of the American Legion Post 2910, a volunteer with the Coal City Fire Department and served as a Coal City Commissioner for 8 years.
He is survived by his children, Mary Beth Giaudrone and James (Jolene) Giaudrone; his grandchildren, Ashley Giaudrone, Justin (Melissa) Giaudrone and Sarah Giaudrone; and his three great-grandchildren, Ryley Walters and Anthony and Isabella Giaudrone. Also surviving are his sister, Geri (the late Earl) Mack and two sisters-in-law, Nora Giaudrone and Marilyn Zeller.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Donna Giaudrone in 2003; his parents; his brother, Doug Giaudrone; his sisters–in-law, Sandra Zeller, Phyllis and her husband Dale Sealy and a brother-in-law, Jim Zeller.
Memorials may be made to Lightways Hospice or the New Hope Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
At Pete’s request, cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorial Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL 60416.
Memorial Service will be at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, also at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jan Chandler officiating. Inurnment with full military honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at 1:30 pm. Those wishing to attend at the cemetery please arrive 15 minutes early at the Welcome Center.
