Peggy Marie Kodat, 74 of Coal City, passed away Friday January 15, 2016 at Edward Hospital in Naperville.

Peggy was born July 14, 1941 in Seneca , IL. to Bertal and Mable (Stull) Anderson. She married Tom Kodat on October 14, 1961 in Verona, IL.

She was a member of the Carbon Hill Women's Club, she formerly served on the Coal City School Board and was a member and volunteer at the Coal City United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, antiques and garage sales. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Tom Kodat of Coal City; children Eric (Ann) Kodat of Coal City,IL. Jeff (Laura) Kodat of Dallas, TX. and Lisa (Tony) Kodat of Scotts Valley, CA.; 6 grandchildren Ethan Kodat, Adam Kodat, Abby Kodat, Noah Kodat, Arabella Lee and Preston Lee; siblings Donald Hilliard, Delores Schieve, Betty (Jack) Lake, Shirley Burgess, Paul (Linda) Anderson, Dale (Jan) Anderson, Sandra Petersen and Mary Kunkel. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and "adopted" children and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Edward Anderson and a sister Carol Marshall.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Peggy's family.

Funeral service will be Thursday January 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Coal City United Methodist Church (6805 E. McArdle Road) with Rev. Bradley Shumaker officiating. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood IL. Visitation will be from 4p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday January 20, 2016 at Ferrari Funeral Services (corner of Spring Road and Ferrari Drive) in Coal City, And 1 hour before the service on Thursday where Peggy's body will lie in state from 9:00 am until the time of service at the Coal City United Methodist Church .
