Milton (Mutt) Wharrie 83, of Coal City passed away on Saturday January 16, 2010, at his home. He was born on August 12, 1926 in Coal City, IL to the late John and Lola Wharrie.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, and spending time with his family. He was also an avid Sox and Bears fan and enjoyed watching Nascar. Milton farmed in the Grundy county area on the family farm in his early years and later retired from Uniroyal chemical company after 37 years. He was a 50 year mason member, Eastern Star, and active with the Coal City Little League.
He is survived by his wife Lois Wharrie, three children Vera Sue Lynch, Richard Wharrie, Larry (Shirley) Wharrie, 6 stepchildren David (Chris) Lindner, Brett Lindner, Michael Lindner, Jamie (Scott) Allen, Laurie (Tom) Keasler, Beth Ann Lindner, a sister Bess (Don) Jafvert, and a sister in law Jan Wharrie. 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 17 step grandchildren, 20 step great grandchildren, 1 step great great grandchild, a special nephew Jay Ransom Wharrie, and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia (Hougas) Wharrie, brothers David Wharrie, Jack (Ellen) Wharrie, step son Larry Lindner, and step grandson Alan Lindner.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday January 20, 2010 at the New Hope Presbyterian Church in Coal City Pastor Heidi Johnson will officiate with interment in Braceville Gardner Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 pm with Masonic Services at 7:45 at Ferrari Funeral Services (corner of Spring Rd. and Ferrari Drive in Coal City). Pall bears will be his grand children Larry Glenn, Amy McLean, Beth Sorensen, Kevin Wharrie, Keith Wharrie, Troy Glenn, Justin, Ryan, and Jenna Wharrie.
