Michael J. Kurdenok , 46 , of Coal City passed away on February 16, 2016 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL.
Michael was born December 20, 1969 in Chicago to George and Karen (West) Kurdenok. He honorably served his country in the United States Army as a Platoon Sergeant and was a Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was currently serving in the Army Reserves as a Staff Sergeant with Kankakee's 317th Engineering Company. He married Kristin Crawford on September 25, 2004 in Coal City. He was employed as a supervisor for Commonwealth Edison.
Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his son, Owen. He also loved dining out.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Kristin, and his son, Owen, both of Coal City; a brother Gregory of Wilmington; a nephew, Matthew; a sister –in-law Stephanie (Ronald) Stockman, of Braceville, IL. and a niece Morgan Stockman; mother and father-in-law Diane (Brian) Crawford of Mazon; an uncle Arthur (Eileen) West of Burr Ridge, IL. ; an aunt Roberta (Timothy) Carroll of LaGrange, IL. and 6 cousins and 12 children of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Karen (West) Kurdenok; a sister Larissa Kurdenok; maternal grandparents Arthur C. and Dorothy E. West; paternal grandparents John and Elizabeth Kurdenok; and an aunt and uncle Walter and Patricia (Kurdenok) Soiya.
Memorial donations may be made to the family to be used for his son Owen's education fund.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Ferrari Funeral Services (corner of Spring Road and Ferrari Drive) in Coal City from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:30 p.m., also at Ferrari Funeral Services. Burial with full military honors will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Anyone not attending the funeral service but wishing to attend the military honors can meet at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Welcome Center at 2:15 p.m.
