Marie T. Roppo, age 80 of Diamond, IL passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born on March 25, 1942 in Chicago to John L. and Phyllis (nee Guido) Calabrese. She grew up and attended schools in Chicago. After graduation, Marie began her working career as a secretary, which gradually transitioned into a logistical purchasing and receiving agent. She married Nicholas John Roppo Jr. in 1960. Together they had two children. Nicholas preceded her in death in 1987.

Marie had a fun loving personality. She enjoyed playing Slots, Skip-bo and Scrabble. She also liked making ceramics. Marie volunteered her time to the Food Pantry at the Assumption Catholic Church and at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery as a member of the Memorial Squad. Most of all, Marie was a devoted mother, grandmother and aunt.

She is survived by her children, her daughter, Tina Roppo of Winona, MN and her son, Nicholas (Jacqueline) Roppo of Troy, IL ; her granddaughters, Heather Roppo and Kimberly Roppo (Peter) Vercio; her sister, Theresa (Dennis) Koegel of Tinley Park and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Phyllis Calabrese; her brother, Nick "Frank" Calabrese and her brother and sister-in-law, John and Sandra Calabrese.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 4:00 pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 7:00 pm at Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL. 60416 Pastor Caleb Counterman will officiate.

Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.

Private family inurnment will take place at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
