Madeline (Eleanor) Cantu 93, of Coal City passed away on Wednesday September 23, 2009 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home. She was born on February 7, 1916 in Cedar Point IL to the Late Michael and Rose Ala.

She was the former owner and operator of The Coal City Bakery and Grill and member of the Assumption of Yhe Blessed Virgin Mary Church. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters Bonita (Mike) Hines, Juanita (Wally) Christensen, four grandchildren Michele Bell, Michael (Christie) Hines, Joseph (Mary) Christensen, Jill (Dave) Hickey and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband August (Augie) Cantu, three brothers Domenic, John, and Mike Ala.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday September 26, 2009 at Our Lady of Angels ( 1201 Wyoming Street Joliet, Il 60433) Father Benet Fonck will officiate. The family will receive friends ½ hour prior to service. A private entombment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.
