Mabel Ruth DeGrush, 87, of Carbon Hill passed away on March 17, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born in Joliet, IL on February 11, 1927 to the late Worth and Mabel Oram Mooney.

Mabel attended New Lenox Grade School and Joliet Township High School. She married Dale Willard Runty on December 6, 1949, and he preceded her in death on January 19, 1963. On July 10, 1965 she married Ampheon "Barney" DeGrush who also preceded her in death on October 24, 1991. She worked at Montgomery Ward Catalog in the 60's and 70's until their closing. She was then employed as secretary at the Coal City Middle School until her retirement in 1988. She enjoyed all sports, especially basketball and baseball, loved weaving and knitting and making Afghan blankets for everyone; active member in the Coal City United Methodist Church holding many different offices there. She especially enjoyed playing cards with friends.

She is survived by five children: Joanne Schenck of Las Vegas, NV, Robert (Paula) Runty of Coal City, Tom (Janet) Runty of Maple Park, IL, Karen (Richard) Jordan of Plano, TX, Lori (Andy) Supinie of Wichita, KS, step-son Richard (Mary Beth) DeGrush of New Lenox, 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. Also survived by brother Fred (Muriel) Mooney of New Lenox, two sisters, Fern Christiansen of Peotone, IL and Janet Werner of Manhattan, IL, sister-in-law Barbara Runty of Manhattan, IL, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend Dawn Huser.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, son-in-law Steven Schenck, brother Ed Mooney, sister-in-law Mary Ann Mooney, three brothers-in-laws Norman Christiansen, Ralph Werner, and Robert Runty, and grandson Robert Runty, Jr.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 10:00 am with a one hour visitation where Mable will lie in state from 9:00 am until the time of service at the Coal City United Methodist Church ( 6805 East MCardle Rd.) Coal City . Dr. Thomas Logsdon will officiate with interment in Ridge Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Sunday at Ferrari Funeral Services (corner of Spring Rd. and 1044 Ferrari Drive) in Coal City. Online guest book at www.ferrarifuneral.com .
