Obituary

Lorna Paulsen, a resident of 50 years in Coal City passed away with loving family by her side. Lorna was born March 13, 1934 in Iowa.   She graduated from Louis Town High School, Missouri.  Lorna married Clarence "Bogie" Paulsen of Iowa and relocated with five children to Coal City.  Children:  Daughters:  Lori Peterson (Dave), Diana Paulsen and sons: Craig (Jodie), Brad and Dirk Paulsen (Jane) with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Lorna was a very supportive and giving mother who was always there for her family when ever needed, especially during challenging times in everyone's life.   She always put others before herself and was not only giving to her children but to all her relatives and friends.  She always made sure everyone had a special gift at Christmas as she always looked forward to that special holiday and spending time with all the family.    She was extremely supportive and dedicated to her husband, Clarence "Bogie" who was a WWII POW.   Lorna was the rock of the family, as well as our father, to ensure her family had their needs met with love and support.

Lorna became a realtor in the Coal City area for approx. 35 years.  Her career was her calling as she very much enjoyed meeting people and worked endlessly to find their dream home.   She met so many wonderful people and created many friendships while working in her career that lasted a life time.   After Lorna retired, she enjoyed spending more time with family and friends and going to antique car/craft events.  She often would make food for the church donations and enjoyed cooking.

Lorna was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Bogie"; her granddaughter, Emily Ann Paulsen; her parents, Opha and Vera Mathias, sister, Mary Hull (Larry); brothers, Cecil (Norma) and Mearl (Helen), Wayne and Harry Mathias.
