Kimberly Ann Ferrari, 42, of Coal City,IL., passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 after an eight year long fight against metastatic breast cancer.
She was born May 10, 1975 in Berwyn, IL. to Otis McKenzie and Helen Jablonsky Freid. She married Gregory Ferrari on September 20, 2002 at the Coal City Assumption Catholic Church. Kim was a local hairstylist and helped her husband run their family business. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Morris, IL. and a past member of the Coal City Junior Women's Club. Her joy in life was her family, especially her two children. She will be remembered for her smile and amazing personality.
She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Greg; their two children Lauren and Ethan; her parents Helen Freid and Otis (Amy) McKenzie; her brother Jerry (Cora) McKenzie; her three step-sisters Dina (Kevin) Schnabble and Desiree and Stephanie Wheeler; her three nieces: Rebecca and Alex McKenzie and Olivia Ferrari; her maternal grandmother Helen Jablonsky and step grandfather Paul Freid; her aunts and uncles Jennifer (Richard) Grabski, Joseph Jablonsky, Anna (Guy) Stone and Kathy Evans; her mother and father in law Cathy and Bob Ferrari; her brother and sister in law Glenn and Becki Ferrari and numerous cousins and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Joseph Jablonsky, her paternal grandparents, and her step-father Brian Freid.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kim's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Blackbird Cancer Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice.
In honor of Kim's eight year journey with breast cancer, please consider wearing pink to her visitation.
Visitation will be at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel (corner of Spring Road and Ferrari Drive) on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from noon until 5:00 pm.
Kim will lie in state on Monday, January 15, 2018 at the First Baptist Church (4470 E. Rt. 113) in Coal City from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Caleb Counterman will officiate. Burial will follow at Braceville/Gardner cemetery.
