Obituary

John B. Vota,87,of Coal City passed away on Wednesday, March 19,2008 at The Morris Hospital. He was born on August 30, 1920 in Thayer, IL to the late Candido and Francesca Vota,

He was a lifelong member of the Coal City VFW, also a member of the Morris Moose and the Assumption Church. WWII veteran serving in the Army Air Force 411th Bomb Squad. He owned and operated Vota's Tavern for over 30 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, baseball, football, and basketball.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Joyce Vota; son Harold (Georgette) Vota of Coal City, daughter Janice (Mike) Davenport of Hampton VA; three grandchildren, Shadrick Scott, David (Kim) Davenport, and Chantelle Davenport; seven great grandchildren, Amara, Asher, Kamauh, Jaddai Scott, Jamison Julianna and Elizabeth Davenport; A niece Laurie (Robert) McClosky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Epifanio Vota, and a sister Kathryn Vota,

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday March 25, 2008, from Ferrari Funeral Services at 9:30 AM to the Assumption Church for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Father Mike Pennock will officiate with interment in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00-8:00 PM at Ferrari Funeral Services in Coal City.
