Obituary

John W. "Jack" Aichele, age 87, of Coal City, IL passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at his home with his wife by his side.

He was born November 15, 1936 to Arthur and Martha (Layman) Aichele. He grew up on the south side of Chicago. From 1955 to 1957 he was a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne and served in Germany with Med Co 503 Airborne Infantry Regiment.

On August 29, 1959 he married Patricia (Pertll) at SS Peter &Paul Church in South Chicago. In 1972 they moved with their four children to Coal City.

Jack was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, the Braidwood Council Knights of Columbus and the Downers Grove Sportsman Club. He became a retired electrician with Local 176 of Joliet in the year 2000.

Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, especially trips to gun competitions with his grandsons where they won many awards, which made him very proud.

Jack loved a bowl of ice cream and nothing made him happier than sharing it with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

It gave him great joy to watch many generations of his family enjoy the home he built on the lake.

Survivors include his wife, Pat , of nearly 65 years; his 3 sons, William (Susan), Daniel (Sandra), Chris (Amy) and a daughter Kathy (Mark Jiskra); grandchildren, Brian Aichele (Katie), Erin Nicole Onsen (Ryan), Emily Ann Nolan (Dylan), Ryan Aichele (Ashley), Danielle Aichele, Matthew Aichele (Emily Claire), Ben Aichele (Maggie) , Jake Aichele (Jacqueline), Josh Jiskra (Jackie), Jeremy Jiskra (Chloe), Ashley Meyerhoff, Erin Meyerhoff (Dan) and Allison Denton. Jack is survived by 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Tom (Nancy) and Richard (Patti) and his sisters, Betty Ann, Mary Catherine (Larry) and Barbara (Tom). Numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Martha.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the charity of the donor's choice.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL 60416.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the Assumption Catholic Church, 215 South Kankakee Street in Coal City with Reverend Joshua Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Braceville Gardner Cemetery with Military Honors.

Pallbearers will be Jack's grandsons: Brian Aichele, Ryan Aichele, Matt Aichele, Jake Aichele, Ben Aichele, Josh Jiskra and Jeremy Jiskra.
