Joan M. Reader 80, of Coal City, IL passed away with her family by her side on Saturday January 17, 2015 at The Morris Hospital. She was born on August 23, 1934 in Morris IL to the Late Edward and Ida (Cushing) Mallaney. Joan was raised on the family farm on Waupecan Road in Verona.

Joan loved flowers and spending time with her family, especially playing cards with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years George Reader; five children Cindy Born, Debbie (Dean ) Marketti, Carol (Neil) Krull, George (fiancé Cara) Reader, and Buffy (Jeff) Blanton; eleven grandchildren Molly (Tony), Ryan (Kasia), Kailee, Mark, Jack, Lauren, Megan, Allison, Alaina, Maci, and Cade; four great grandchildren , Charlie, Roman, Simone, and Max. Also survived by a brother James (Shirley) Mallaney a sister Kay (Lee) Michelich and a sister in law Jo Ann Mallaney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bernard Mallaney, Eddie (Dorothy) Mallaney, Pat (Henrietta) Mallaney, and Donald in infancy; sisters Norene (Bob) Plott, Monica (Francis) Ragan, and Jean (Gus) Schulke.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday January 21, 2015 at 11:00 am in The Ferrari Funeral Chapel (corner of Spring Rd. and Ferrari Dr.) in Coal City, Father Edwrd J. Howe,CR officiating with interment in Braceville Gardner Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 pm at Ferrari funeral Services (1044 Ferrari drive) in Coal City, online guest book available at www.ferrarifuneral.com
