Jack L." Thyger" Thygesen, age 90, formerly of Gardner, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
He was born on October 28, 1934 in Morris, IL to Francis H. and Esther J. (nee Nelson) Thygesen. He grew up in the Gardner area and graduated from Gardner South Wilmington High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. Jack was a carpenter by trade, building homes with his father in Gardner before joining the Union Trades. He worked for many years with the Narvick Brothers in Morris.
Jack enjoyed fishing, especially at Heidecke Lake with his longtime friend, Lee Gunderson. He was a talented wood carver particularly with small sculptures such as birds. Jack was happy to spend his winters in Port Richie, FL. Jack was very good friends with Bill W. for over 45 years .
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Mark Ferguson of New Lenox and one granddaughter, Madalyn Ferguson.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
A private family service will be at a later date at Braceville Gardner Cemetery.
