Irvin J. Lafferty passed away on Sunday May 19, 2013 at his home in Coal City. He was born in Coal City on June 27, 1917 to the late Alex and Kate Lafferty.
Irvin was a member of The Knights of Columbus,The Old Timrs Baseball Groupwhere he met many celeberity athletes, and the Assumption Church. He was formerly employed at Northern Illinois Coal, and Caterpillar, Joliet. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family , drawing and coloring, his toy train collection and also carpenter work.
He is survived by three daughters Catherine (Richard) Yanketis of Gardner, Ann Lafferty of Coal City, and Cheryl Lafferty of Incline Village,Nevada, three grandchildren Reno (Tina) Vignocchi of Coal City, Rena Vignocchi of Gardner, Gina Vignocchi of Reddick. Seven great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and a niece, Linda Stone.
He was preceded in death by his parents , his wife Agnita Lafferty, a brother Jim (Maxine) Lafferty, and his special friend Mildred (Dolly) Puleo.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday May 22, 2013 from Ferrari Funeral Services Coal City at 9:30 am to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church for a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial Father Robert Noesen will officiate with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery . Visitation will be in Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 pm at Ferrari Funeral Services (1044 Ferrari Drive ) in Coal City online guest book at www.ferrarifuneral.com.
