Gerald F. Kramer, age 76 of Coal City, IL passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Lightways Hospice in Joliet.

He was born on June 10, 1946 in Joliet to Raymond C. and Frances (nee Galbraith) Kramer. He grew up in Coal City, graduating with the Coal City High School class of 1964. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Hood, TX and serving with the "Hell on Wheels" Second Armored Division. Jerry married Nancy A. Emanuelson on February 11, 1967 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Coal City.  He retired in 1999 from Collins Generating Station after 23 years of service. Jerry had a close friendship with many of his co-workers.

Jerry was an avid motorsport fan. He served as crew chief for his brother, David, at the short tracks at the Grundy County Speedway and at Fairbury Speedway.

Jerry was a devoted Grandpa to his four grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Nancy; his sons, Jeff (Heather) Kramer of Diamond and Daniel Kramer of Coal City; his grandchildren, Zakk, Maxx, Ryder and Myla; his sister, Margaret (the late Jerry) Love of Shorewood; his brother-in-law, Ken (Colleen) Miller of Coal City and his cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Frances Kramer; his brother, David Kramer and his sister-in-law, Barbara Miller.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

Inurnment will be on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 with full military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood at 12:00 noon.  Family and friends wishing to attend may gather at Ferrari Funeral Services parking lot for funeral procession at 11:00 am, or may meet at the Cemetery Welcome Center at 11:45 am.
