Georgine B. "Gigi" Gubbins, age 66 of Coal City, IL passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

Gigi was born in Chicago on Groundhog Day, February 2, 1957 to William C. and Shirley H. (nee Zeiss) Cutsinger. She grew up in the Des Plaines area, graduating from Maine West High School. Gigi married John Gubbins on September 24, 1977 at the Ascension Church in Oak Park. Together, they raised their two sons, Sean and Tim in their family home in Coal City. Gigi worked as a safety manager with Cardinal Trucking for over 30 years. To stay active after retirement, she became a crossing guard for the Coal City Elementary School.

Gigi was married to John for 44 years. They made so many great memories together, but especially enjoyed vacationing near water. They could be seen taking trips to Lake of the Ozarks, the North Woods or on a cruise ship in the ocean. For Gigi, the water was her "Happy Place". And although they enjoyed going places together, Gigi and John also found special time in everyday life, including coming home from work and discussing the day's events with each other. Gigi was one of a kind. She was fun loving, giving and relished being the life of the party. She would say it like it is and didn't hold back, and people loved her for it. Most importantly, she was an amazing and devoted Grandma.

She is survived by her two sons, Sean (Nicole) Gubbins of Channahon and Timothy Gubbins of Diamond; her grandchildren, Kiana, Ethan, Aidan, Tyler and Avery; her sister-in-law, Jeannie (the late Robert) Niemet of Hoffman Estates and her brother in law, William (Bridget) Gubbins of England.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John in August of 2022 and her parents, William and Shirley Cutsinger.

As were Gigi's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
