George H. Knoop 85 of Mazon, IL passed away at his home on Saturday January 19, 2013. He was born on April 07, 1927 in Joliet, IL to the late William and Freda (Luehrs) Knoop.
He was employed at Olin Chemical for 36 years until his retirement. His greatest love was for the lord, family, life, nature, music, and all gods' creations great and small. He was a man of great faith, and had a passion for horses, even driving a team of horses at different events. After retirement he spent his time gardening, caring for animals on the farm, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he was blessed with and loved dearly. He also served as a US Marine first Division, First Signal Assault, occupying mainland China.
He was loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years Anna (D'Orazio) Knoop , three children Karl (Dawn) Knoop of Mazon, Cindy (Richard) Fritz of Manhattan, and Rita (Dr. Peter) Vienne, of Mazon, ten grandchildren Richie (Stacy) Fritz, Matthew (Natalie) Fritz, Jeremy Fritz, Kadie (Stan) Kowalewski, Jonathan Knoop, Peter (Cortney) Vienne, Zachary Vienne, Sarah (Matthew) Jones, Jacob (Kara) Vienne, Samantha Vienne; seven great grandchildren, a sister Shirley Yowell, five sister in laws; Jennie Knoop, Eva Galounis,Ida (Manny) Delrose, Nancy (Paul) Corsetti, nd Rita (Richard) Mttea brother in law and best friend Joe (Josi) Srsnick, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters Lorraine Seeman, Florence Thompson, Hazel Ruttell Monaghan, and Fern Jones, two brothers; Ahron Knoop, and Maurice Knoop.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday January 24, 2013 from Ferrari Funeral Services at 9:30 am to Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, for a 10:00 am mass of Christian burial Father Robert Noesen will officiate, interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with full military honors. George's grandchildren will be serving as pallbearers and Joe Srsnick will be honorary pallbearers.
