The world became a little quieter on July 29, 2026, when Everett Steffan Wengstrom, age 46, left us. Born on August 28, 1979, Everett lived a life filled with loyalty, curiosity, humor, and a deep, unwavering love for his family. He had a presence that made people feel understood and supported, a gift he shared with everyone who knew him.

Everett was the beloved son of Warren Wengstrom and Valerie Mezger Wengstrom, and a devoted brother to LaVonne (Jacob) Kirby and Ericca (Rollin) Hill. To his nephew Steffan (Kendal) Wengstrom, niece Alyssia (Jai) Barajas, and great nephew Ezra Wengstrom, he was a mentor, a role model, and a quiet hero. His love extended across generations, reaching numerous great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and extended family who all felt the warmth of his presence.

He is survived by his aunts and uncles: LeNore Wengstrom, Kristine Pane, Jeffrey (Sandra) Mezger, and Debra Mezger; and by his cousins: Nikki (Cory) Simon, Crystal (Jake) Rutherford, Randy (Sheryl) Mezger, Alyssa (Eddie) Wendler, Chad Planeta, Steven (Jessica) Pane, Abram (Cindy) Lawrence, Jeff Mezger, Jen (Frank) Lesniak, Nathan (Audrey) Stirling, Angela (Phil) McDonald, Shanae (Chris) Uhalt, Luke (Yasmee) Stirling, and countless other family and friends who loved him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Everett and Helen Wengstrom, maternal grandparents Richard and LaVonne Mezger, his uncle Randy (Kathy) Mezger, uncle Rik Stirling, and cousins Valynda Planeta and Adam Lawrence.

Everett’s life was defined by devotion — especially to his family. He was the kind of brother and son who showed up without being asked, who listened without judgment, and who loved without conditions. To his nieces and nephews, he was “Funcle,” the fun uncle who made every moment brighter. He was protective, thoughtful, and quietly heroic. If someone was hurting, he noticed. He carried a fierce loyalty that made his loved ones feel safe in a way only he could provide.

Everett was committed to learning and growth. He earned his Electrical Engineering degree from DeVry University and was actively pursuing his Master’s in Business, always pushing himself to achieve more.

Professionally, Everett was respected as a Regional Area Maintenance Manager at C&W Services and over saw 10 sites in the Chicagoland Area. His coworkers admired his intelligence, creativity, and willingness to help anyone who needed it. He approached every challenge with patience, skill, and genuine care.

Everett had a brilliant, curious mind and a heart full of passion for the things he loved. He embraced life with enthusiasm, humor, and a sense of wonder.

Above all, Everett loved life and wanted to live it fully. Everett loved his family. Every gathering, every laugh, every shared moment mattered. He showed up, he protected, he listened, and he cared. He stood up to the bully, helped the unfortunate, and lived with a quiet bravery that made him a hero to many. His legacy is love, loyalty, and the countless lives he touched simply by being himself.

Memorial Visitation will be held on August 22, 2026, from noon to 3:00 PM at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel with a Memorial Funeral Service to begin at 3:00 PM. A potluck fellowship will take place afterward as the family gathers to honor Everett’s life, share memories, and celebrate the beautiful soul he was.
