Eugene P. "Gino" Bianchetta, age 83, of Coal City, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, due to injuries sustained in a car accident.

He was born on May 8, 1941 in Morris, IL to Louis and Pauline (nee Sikora) Bianchetta. Gino grew up in the Coal City area and graduated from Coal City High School. He served his country honorably for four years in the United States Navy. Gino married Naomi J. Swanson at the Coal City Assumption Church on November 12, 1966. Together they raised their three children. He started his working career as a Coal City mailman, then switched to the better job of working for the Army Corps of Engineers as a lock and dam operator until his retirement.

Gino was a member of the Coal City Restaurant morning coffee crew. He liked to dabble in many activities over the years, including bee keeping and working with antique tractors and steam engines. He was interested in his Italian heritage and enjoyed learning about it through genealogy. He was a member of the American Italian Cultural Society and he loved going up every month to help cook and drink wine on "Spaghetti Day".  Gino and Naomi hardly missed a Saturday night going out to eat with Sharon and Jim Aldridge. They also enjoyed taking trips to Shipshewana with Mike and Linda Ahern. Most of all, Gino was proud of his children and grandchildren and was affectionately known as "Grumpy Grandpa".

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Naomi Bianchetta; his children, Gina (Vince) Piatak, Laura (Andrew) Symons and Peter (Jaimie) Bianchetta; his grandchildren, Joseph Piatak, Jacob Piatak , Jason Piatak, Rese Symons , Lila Symons and Madison Holcomb; his sister, Paula (Dave) Hamm; his brothers, Donald (Pat) Bianchetta and Robert (Laurie) Bianchetta. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL 60416.

Funeral Service will be at 9:00 am on Monday, March 3, 2025 at the Coal City United Methodist Church, 6805 East McArdle Road, Coal City, IL 60416. Rev. Dr. Jay Regennitter will officiate.

Burial will follow at Braceville Gardner Cemetery.
