Elizabeth "Betty" (nee Zbacnik) Kolenc, at the age of 92 years old, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Heritage Health in Dwight.
She was born in Joliet, IL on July 24, 1925 to John and Mary (nee Laurich) Zbacnik.
Loving and proud Aunt to Bonnie (Ron) Michalak, Thomas (Mary Therese) Stefanech, Caroline Tolentino and Jennifer Tolentino. Betty was truly blessed with her very special friends, Anthony (Red) and Dorothy Plese and Delores Slobodnik. She enjoyed her holidays and special celebrations with Richard and Deanna Serdar and their extended families. If there was a party, Betty was there! Don't forget the potato salad, her favorite.
Preceded in death by her husband, Anthony (Tony) (1988); daughter, Darlene (Buttons) (1972); parents, John and Mary (nee Laurich) Zbacnik; three sisters, Antionette (Marion) Scheffler, Caroline (Aloysius) Zelinski, Mary (Louis) Barbic; six brothers, John (in infancy), Frank (Rose), John, Joseph (Ann), Ludwig (Delores) and Louis (Joan). Also preceded in death by a very special cousin, Bernadine Mufich; and two special nieces, Carol (Ray deceased) Belom and Kathleen (Vince) Tolentino.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Kankakee Valley; Kristian, Amy, Heather, Teri, Alyssa and Marlin for your professionalism, compassion and devotion. They would also like to thank the entire staff at Heritage Health in Dwight. Words cannot express the deep appreciation for the compassion and daily involvement in her care.
Betty was often tapping her feet and singing along with Lawrence Welk and his polkas. She loved playing cards and bingo. She would also let you know if you were interrupting her favorite shows: "Lawrence Welk", "Price Is Right", "Wheel of Fortune" and "Mother Angelica" when praying her rosary. She was known for humming or singing songs, especially Christmas songs all year long. Her quirky remarks like "How about those apples?" and "Come on, let's go!"
Per Betty, "See You Later Alligator!"
