Obituary

Douglas E. McCaleb, age 66 of Morris, IL, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Lightways Hospice in Joliet.

He was born on May 15, 1956 in Fremont, MI to Woodrow W. and Lois M. (nee Gill) McCaleb. He graduated from Quincy Senior High School and attended Wheaton College and Harvard Divinity School.  Doug served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1974 until 1980.  After his service, he worked as a consultant dealing with technology. He married Colette G. Kirby on July 27, 1998 in Burlington, VT.

Doug was a pilot of small aircraft who owned and flew his own airplane. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was devoted to his family and to the Lord.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Colette Kirby; his sisters, Sue (David) Dean of Round Rock, TX and Carol (Tom) Postma of Grand Rapids, MI; his nephews, Matthew Dean and Jon McCaleb; and his sisters in law, Lynn (Rich) Karneboge of Pekin and Colleen (Ken) Miller of Coal City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Lois McCaleb, and by his brother, Phillip McCaleb.

Memorials may be directed to the Woodrow McCaleb Leadership Scholarship at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary, 1001 E. Beltline Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Memorial Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, November 18, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Morris, 1650 West US Route 6, Morris, IL. 60450.

Memorial Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 19, 2022, also at the First Baptist Church of Morris. Pastor Steve Larson will officiate.
