Dorothy Ann "Dottie" (Fleischacker) Winnicki, age 91, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Serenity Estates in Morris.
She was born March 30, 1934 in Chicago to her mother Anna Fleischacker and Stanley Chebney in a traditional Lutheran home.
Dorothy married Joe Winnicki on October 2, 1953 in Chicago. They were married for 39 years before he passed away July 9, 1992. They raised their children in the Gardner area and moved to Marseilles in 1982 where they spent the next several years. Together they loved to dance the polka and run their concession stand in the Ottawa area. They were also the occasional wedding DJ couple. Christmas was always a special occasion for their family, especially when they dressed up as Mr. and Mrs. Clause.
Dorothy was a strong-willed and loving woman. She loved animals of all kinds and spending time outside camping and fishing. She raised German Shepherd puppies and loved horses, especially her horse Flicka. Dorothy was an avid crafter who loved painting and attending craft shows.
Dorothy is survived by three children, Linda (Dave) Langager of Michigan, Kathleen (John) Zelinko of Coal City, and Chad (Jenny Carlock) Winnicki of Ottawa. Also surviving are her grandchildren, David (Christina Lipscomb), Mathew (Jessica), and Scott Langager; Candie (Matt) McCants, Lori (Chris) Cavera, Beth (Tim) Peters; Marissa (Joe) Pham, Kristen (Tom) Pentolino, Carl "Joey"" (Bree) Winnicki; Alyssa and Samantha Winnicki, Cory (Kaitlyn) Eisert, and Preston Winnicki. Dorothy is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe Winnicki, her son Ronald Winnicki, and her brother Daniel Chebney.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 16° from 11am until the time of funeral services at 1pm at Ferrari Funeral Services in Coal City .Father Josh Miller will officiate. Burial will immediately follow in Elwood at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband Joe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothy's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
