Donald "Don" Henke, age 80, of Coal City, IL. passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 5, 2022.

He was born on April 21, 1941 in Joliet, IL. to Frank and Mary (Carlisle) Henke. He was educated in Coal City Schools. Don married Carolyn DeLay on October 12, 1963 at the Coal City United Methodist Church. He worked as a machinist with Caterpillar until his retirement. Don enjoyed being with his family including his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He belonged to the New Community Christian Church in Morris.  His hobbies were fishing at the Coal City Area Club, walking, gardening, euchre and spending time at the gun range. He loved to travel, especially to Florida. Don enjoyed his weekly breakfast with his brother, Ron, and his best friend, Joe.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn; his three daughters, Karen (Lou) Dinelli, Janet (Ren) Bauser and Lisa Larson; his ten grandchildren, Kristen Henke, Ryan Onsen, Kayla (Brandon) Paulsen, Katie (Kris) Sanders, Dalton Onsen, Jake Larson, Caeley Larson, Lyndsay Larson, Adam (Tammy) Bauser and Scott (Sonia) Dinelli ; his 13 great-grandchildren; his brother, Ron Henke and lots of family and friends that loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Henke; his mother, Mary Henke McIntosh and his step-father, Frank McIntosh.

Family visitation will be held privately.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Cremation rites will be accorded.
