Dolores Eloise Stringer, age 94, of Diamond, IL formerly of Cleburne, TX, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 11, 2022, surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 15, 1928 in Baytown, TX to Robert C. and Ruth C. (nee Fly) Read. She grew up in Texas and after graduating high school, earned her teaching degree at Baylor University. There, Dolores met Vernie H. Stringer, whom she married on August 4, 1951.  She was an educator her entire life, teaching 3 ^rd grade, 6 ^th grade, high school and Title 1 Reading.  She also taught high school and adult Sunday school. After her retirement, Dolores taught adult education, helping people to earn their GED's. For many years, she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Walls Regional Hospital.

Dolores was an amazing person. Her friends and family described her as classy and one of the kindest, most loving people whom they were lucky enough to have spent time with. She was very devoted to her family and "Nanny" as she was called by her granddaughter, was very excited to learn of her expected great-great grandson. She enjoyed her standard poodles, Willow and Ivy. A lifelong learner, Dolores took a class later in life on computer technology and loved using her I-Phone for texting, sending emoji's and watching videos.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherri Frost, her granddaughter, Shannon (Mike) Manietta and her great-granddaughter, Emma (CJ) Elam, all of Diamond. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Harold Richardson of Wichita Falls, TX and her sister-in-law, Marlene Read of Baytown, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ruth Read; her husband of 67 years, Vernie Stringer; her daughter, Stacy Richardson and her brother, James Read.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, a charity donation to Beans and Bites in Coal City or the American Diabetes Association would be appreciated.

Visitation will be on Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 9:00 am until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 am at Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL. 60416. Rev. Dr. Jay Regennitter will officiate.
