Obituary

David H. Brewer, Jr. of Coal City passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011. He was born on December 22, 1934 in Bradley County, Tennessee, the son of David and Mattie (Bates) Brewer, Sr.

Dave married Marilyn Brod in August 1956 in Lyons, IL and moved to Carbon Hill and later Coal City to raise their six children. Dave was a retired pipe-fitter and a member of Local 597. He was also a Navy veteran who served his country during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the fruits of his garden, and playing cards with his family.

Survivors include his six children; Pam (Tim) Dearth, Janice (Ray) Alexander, Brian (Ronda) Brewer, Susan (Doug) Boresi, Linda Hanley, Debbie (Scott) Pavlis. Also surviving are twenty-three grandchildren; Alison (RJ) D'Orazio, Laura (Ryan) Allen, Megan (Steve) Vandewerken, Ryan, Brenden, and Austin Alexander, Jacob Agamy, Jamie Parcell, Jessica, Breann, Madalyn, Tyler, and Sadey Brewer, Ben, Brad, Emily, and Hannah Boresi, Marlee and David Hanley, Mark (Kim), Jill, Carly, and Claire Pavlis. Dave also had thirteen great-grandchildren.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn, two brothers, William and Walter (Freddie), and infant great-granddaughter Addy.

Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 Am on Tuesday December 20, 2011 at The Ferrari Funeral Chapel in Coal City; Dr Thomas Logsdon will officiate with interment in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood with full military honors. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 -8:00 pm at Ferrari Funeral Services (corner of spring rd. and Ferrari Drive) in Coal City.
