Dale E. Offdenkamp, age 67 of Coal City, IL passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, April 21, 2022.
He was born at Ingalls Hospital in Harvey, IL on November 2, 1955 to Charles and Eloise (nee Marshall) Offdenkamp and he grew up in that area with his brothers and sister. Dale married Sandra L. Daniels on November 16, 1985 at the First Presbyterian Church in Homewood. They later moved together to Coal City where they raise their two sons. He worked at Hubert Lines as an overhead crane mechanic and was known there as "Cap'n". An accident at work forced him into early retirement. Dale's love for his family was ever present. He enjoyed many hobbies including NASCAR racing, taking many adventures on his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his wife, Sandy, and boating out on Lake Michigan. He bowled at Echo Lanes in Morris and loved working on cars with his family, especially race cars with his brother, Kevin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Sandy; his sons, Jordan (Alyssa) Offdenkamp of Coal City and Brandon (Cecily) Offdenkamp of Braceville; his four grandchildren, Hailee, Mollee and Ryan Offdenkamp and Caleb Offdenkamp; his brothers, James (Sherrie) Offdenkamp of Bakersfield, CA and Kevin (Dorothy) Offdenkamp of Munster, IN and his sister, Bonnie (the late James) Duffy of Havelock, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Eloise Offdenkamp.
Memorials in Dale's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 2:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 5:30 pm at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL 60416. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.
