Clarence J. Hodgen, age 95 of Coal City, IL passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Arc at Dwight.

He was born on March 29, 1929 in Coal City to Clarence F. and Jennie (nee Gianu) Hodgen. Clarence spent his whole life in Coal City, graduating from Coal City High School. He worked as lather and a Union Carpenter. He was an avid bowler for 50 years, enjoying knocking down the pins at Toulie's Lanes. He was proud to have the highest average in town at the time. The loves of Clarence's life were fishing, woodworking and his grandchildren. He was the kind of man who would drop whatever he was doing to help others.

He is survived by his children, Nancy Light, Sheri (Shawn) Delong and Greg (Kim) Hodgen; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great- great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Parrish; his son, Gary Hodgen; his brother, Russell Hodgen and his sister, Judy Martis.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

A graveside service for family and close friends will be at 11:00 on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Braceville Gardner Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Jay Regennitter will officiate.
