Charles W. "Bill" Tabler Jr., age 63 of Diamond, IL passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at his home due to injuries sustained in a house fire.
He was born on January 25, 1961 in Morris, IL to Charles W. Sr. and Ramona (nee LeRette) Tabler. He was raised with his brother and sister in the Morris area, attending Immaculate Conception Catholic School and graduating from Morris High School class of 1979. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy and later became a journeyman electrician for Local #177 of Jacksonville, FL working for over 30 years.
Bill married Betty Ann Vasickanin on June 10, 1989 in Georgia. Together they raised five children including a set of triplets and eventually made their home in Diamond. A devoted father, he enjoyed taking his kids to the Morris Bakery before going out fishing with them. He was a talented baker with a specialty in chocolate chip cookies. Bill was a fan of Notre Dame Football and local trivia nights. He was a proud papa to his three grandchildren and enjoyed taking them to school and attending their activities. He was also fond of his granddogs, Huck, Bree, Raye, Ozzie, Baby Yoda, Vader and Leah.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Betty; his mother, Ramona Tabler of Morris; his children, Charles (Marisol) Tabler of Sierra Vista, AZ, Andrew (Megan) Tabler of Coal City, Daniel Tabler of Diamond and Abigail Tabler of Coal City; his grandchildren, Ayden Tabler, Celia and Skyla Tabler and a baby girl on the way; his brother, James E. (Pam) Tabler of Joliet and his sisters, Lee Ann (the late Joel) Franklin of Morris, Peggy (Daniel) Edmier of Carmel, IN, Cyndi Hughes of Rensselaer, IN, Roberta (Kevin) Kane of Villa Park and Valerie Hooper of Wheaton. Bill loved and was loved by Dee (Don) Borchelt, Kathleen, Gregory and Caitlin Twarog, Judy (the late George) Wheat, numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his son, Alexander G. Tabler; his father, Charles W. Tabler Sr. and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joseph and Delores Vasickanin.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL 60416. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 pm at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 215 South Kankakee Street, Coal City, 60416.
Inurnment will be private at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Morris, IL.
