Bruce A. Wilkerson, age 86, of Coal City, IL passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Arcadia Care Nursing Home in Morris, IL.

He was born on April 16, 1938 in Alcoa, TN to Ralph and Callie (nee Turpin) Wilkerson. On December 26, 1958 he married Barbara A. Stiles at Central Baptist Church in Alcoa, TN.

After graduating high school, he relocated to Illinois and began a career with Caterpillar Tractor Company in Joliet where he worked as a chrome plater until his retirement after 36 years.

He was known as the "Lawn Mower Man" around town and provided lawn mower and small engine repair, boat repair and tree cutting for many residents in Coal City and surrounding towns.

In addition, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, tending to his garden and his many vacation and fishing trips to Tennessee.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of 65 years;  his 2 sons, Mark (Debbie) Wilkerson of Coal City and Tracy (Melanie) Wilkerson of Reddick, and daughter Lisa (Al) Gonzalez of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren, Alec Gonzalez, Drew Gonzalez, Karissa (Maggie) Kaiser, Kody (Courtney) Kaiser, Kasey (Jacy) Kaiser, Cole (Jordy) Smith and Carson Smith. He is also survived by his brother, Ralph (Ada) Wilkerson Jr. of Maryville, TN and his sister, Martha (Gordon) Robinson of Louisville, TN. Several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Callie Wilkerson.

Memorials in Bruce's memory may be directed to the New Hope Presbyterian Church in Coal City.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL 60416.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am on Monday, August 5, 2024 at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 80 North Garfield Street, Coal City, IL with Pastor Jan Chandler officiating.

Burial will follow at Braceville-Gardner Cemetery in Braceville.

Pall Bearers will be: Al Gonzalez, Alec Gonzalez, Drew Gonzalez, Kody Kaiser, Kasey Kaiser and Darren Stiles.
