Betty Davidson Roberts, age 90, of Coal City, Illinois, most recently a resident of The Gardens at Park Pointe in Morris, passed away on September 1, 2026 at Morris Hospital.

Betty was born March 6, 1936, in Harriman, Tennessee, to Charles and Alice (Ladd) Davidson. Though she made Illinois her home, she never lost the Southern roots that were an important part of who she was.

Betty was a devoted member of the Braceville United Methodist Church and spent many years volunteering at Morris Hospital. Having once been a caregiver herself, she understood the importance of helping others and giving of her time.

Strong-willed and fiercely independent, Betty was determined to do things her own way and remain independent for as long as possible. Her family often joked that her stubborn streak was probably a big reason she made it to 90. She was never afraid to speak her mind and always had an opinion to share.

Betty was also a wonderful Southern cook. She loved her recipes and cookbooks and took great pride in passing along her cooking knowledge and traditions to her family. Her kitchen was one of the many places where she showed her love.

Above all, Betty loved her family. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Rose, and daughter-in-law, Pam Roberts; her grandchildren, Adam and Kristi Roberts of Coal City, Michelle Reddinger and Derrick “D” Wren of Morris, Alan and Jessica Gabehart, Matt Gabehart and Katie Gabehart; her great-grandchildren, Zachary Reddinger, Samuel Reddinger, Caleb Reddinger, Haidyn Wren, Cooper Roberts, Zoe Roberts, and Keirsten, Kamden and Darcie Gabehart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alice Davidson; her husband, Joe Roberts; her son, Quintin Keith Roberts; and several brothers and sisters.

Memorial contributions in Betty’s name may be made to the Braceville United Methodist Church.

Betty leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, independence, family traditions, and love. Her family will miss her humor, her strong opinions, her cooking advice, and the unmistakable way she was simply Betty.
