Obituary

Audrey A. Jessee, 95 of Morris, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 26, 2013 at Morris Hospital. She was born on July 24, 1918 in Carterton, Virginia the daughter of Grady and Bessie Stamper Jessee.

Audrey spent most of her life in Southwest Virginia in the towns of Carterton and Lebanon in Russell County with her family and friends of which there were many. She was always known for her devotion to her family and friends. When there was a need, she was always there, and we believe that her devotion along with her faith in God contributed to her longevity in this world. She overcame many obstacles and illnesses during her lifetime, but was always cheerful in her outlook on life. She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church in Carterton. During her later years, her Sundays were devoted to her favorite TV religious services. At the age of 82, Audrey moved to the state of Illinois to be with her daughter and son-in-law and family. She made an exceptional adjustment to the move for her age and continued to enjoy her remaining years with her immediate family.

Audrey will not be forgotten by those who loved her. She will be sorely missed. May she forever rest in peace.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, William R. and Shirley Thompson Jessee of Morris; 3 beloved grandchildren, William "Rusty" Jessee; Janet (Don) Thayer and Tammy (Jim) Seeley; 6 great grandchildren: Dani, Joe, Chris, Lauren, Cory and Carly; one brother, Grady (Joyce) Jessee Jr.; and one sister: Mary Ferguson. Also surviving are her half-brothers: Jack, Charlie, and JD. Jessee and numerous special nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, Elihu Jessee, two sisters, Edith Ellis and Marie Wilson, one brother, Garland D. Jessee; brothers- in law Glen Wilson and Kyle Ferguson, a sister- in-law Mary Rose Jessee, one nephew, Roger Kiser and a very dear friend, Floyd Cross.
